Netizens applaud Shah Rukh Khan's 'dua' at Lata Mangeshkar's funeral

Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar was consigned to flame in the presence of national and state leaders, artists, fans and family at Mumbai's Shivaji Park on Sunday. The legendary singer was accorded a state funeral.

Mumbai:  Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's prayer with his manager at the funeral of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar in Mumbai has become the talk of social media.  

The picture of the superstar and his manager has been widely shared on social media platforms. Shah Rukh Khan was seen offering 'dua' and his manager, Pooja Dadlani,  offered her last respects with folded hands. #ShahRukhKhan is trending on Twitter.  

Chandra Kumar Bose, grand nephew of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, shared the picture and tweeted, " #ShahRukhKhan at #LataMangeshkar 's funeral offering prayers! This is the real heritage & culture of India. Certain religious bigots cannot digest it!"

Mumbai Congress leader Charan Singh Sapra, said, "Best example of secularism. Why are communal Bhakts perturbed. #ShahRukhKhan This is idea of India." 

Shah Rukh Khan actor was last seen in 'Zero' (2018), where he starred opposite Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. The actor is soon going to make his comeback with his upcoming film, 'Pathan'.

Lata Mangeshkar’s entire family including younger sister Asha Bhosle are present Shivaji Park. The national tricolour in which was body was draped, was handed over to Lata's family with full honour by the defence personnel at Shivaji Park.  Her brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar lit the pyre. 

Lata Mangeshkar was born on September 28, 1929, to a Marathi and Konkani musician Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar. Originally named Hema, she was the eldest of five siblings, including veteran singer Asha Bhosle. Her father Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar was a classical singer and theatre actor.

Lata Mangeshkar recorded her first playback song for a Marathi film, Kiti Hasaal, at the age of 13, and even acted in a Marathi film, Pahili Mangalagaur in the year 1942. In year 1946, she recorded her first Hindi film playback song for Aap Ki Seva Mein, directed by Vasant Jogalekar.
