Maynaguri (West Bengal): At least nine persons were killed, 42 people are injured after Bikaner-Guwahati Express (15633) train got derailed near West Bengal’s Domohani area near Jalpaiguri on Thursday evening.
The train was headed from Patna to Guwahati. According to an update by the Railway Ministry, nine people have succumbed to their injuries while 42 passengers have been injured in this incident.
Sources said that more passengers are trapped in the derailed coaches, rescue operation is going on.
Six of the injured passengers are in critical condition and shifted to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital in Siliguri. The others are being treated at hospitals in Jalpaiguri and Maynaguri.

Meanwhile, the Railway Minister has also announced compensation for the passengers. The families of those killed in the accident will receive ₹ 5 lakh, those seriously injured will get ₹ 1 lakh and ₹ 25,000 will be given for minor injuries, the minister announced yesterday.
