No DCMs, BY Vijayendra in Bommai Cabinet
Bengaluru: Former chief minister's son, BY Vijayendra, is not in the newly appointed Council of Ministers of the Karnataka Government led by Basavaraj Bommai.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai told the media that the new Cabinet would not include BY Vijayendra. Also, the chief minister clarified "This time High Command has said that there'll be no Deputy Chief Ministers".
Govind Karajol, Laxman Savadi and Dr Aswath Narayan were deputy chief ministers in the previous government. Senior leaders Jagadish Shettar, Suresh Kumar, and CP Yogishwar, ministers in the previous Cabinet, are not in the Bommai Cabinet.
Also, rumours were doing rounds that BY Vijayendra, Vice president of BJP Karnataka, was expected to be deputy chief minister in the new Cabinet.
Bommai said, "The Cabinet is a combination of experienced leaders and enthusiastic young leaders. Totally 29 MLAs will take the oath of office and secrecy today afternoon at Raj Bhavan".
Reacting to the announcement of the new council of ministers, former minister R Ashok said, " I did not demand anything from the party high command. I'm comfortable in the ministry. The party high command has decided not to appoint Deputy CM. I'm confident of the CM and will take whatever portfolio will be allocated".
