Ola electric scooter catches fire, probe ordered
The investigation has now been taken up by the Centre for Fire Explosive and Environment Safety (CFEES) agency which was directed by the government to conduct the investigation into how an electric scooter caught fire.
New Delhi: After the incident of an electric scooter of Ola company catching fire in the middle of the road in Pune, the government has ordered a detailed investigation into the matter.
The investigation has now been taken up by the Centre for Fire Explosive and Environment Safety (CFEES) agency which was directed by the government to conduct the investigation into how an electric scooter caught fire.
The agency has also been asked to suggest remedial measures to prevent such mishaps, according to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).
In a letter written to CFEES, the ministry has also asked the agency to share the findings along with the remedial measures for improvement and to prevent such incidents in the future.
It may be noted that recently an electric scooter belonging to the Ola company was suddenly engulfed in a fire in the Pune district of Maharashtra.
A video of the company's electric scooter catching fire was widely circulated on social media with users raising questions over the safety standards of the vehicle.
Reacting to the incident, Ola co-founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal had said though they prepare vehicles having full safety precautions, however, he said that since the incident has taken place, they are investigating this and will fix it.
