Bengaluru:  Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has instructed Health and Family Welfare department to take vaccination drives at schools, colleges and apartments.

Chief Minister has asked the health and family welfare department to monitor cluster management in Bengaluru.

“ I have received the preliminary report on Omicron new variant. I have instructed department officials to obtain full report including treatment protocol and how many countries have been affected with Omicron virus and what are the treatment protocol being used in those countries”, Chief Minister said.

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Mr. Bommai said, Omicron affected countries have been following treatment protocol of delta variant. If any specific treatment is available for Omicron infected patients it will be adopted, he added.

Chief Minister has asked the officials to micromanagement of the clusters. There are two types of clusters in the state. One is Schools, colleges and the second is apartments. Earlier ten covid cases were identified as one cluster, now it has been decreased to three cases. Contact tracing, treatment and vaccination will be given priorities in the clusters.

“Omicron is very less intensity, but it has fast spread. So contact tracing will be a challenging task for health officials. I have asked the officials to take compulsory double doses vaccine drive at schools, colleges and apartments. In apartments, residents are using the common area for meeting and gathering, where double doses vaccinated residents are only allowed to meet and gather, I have instructed BBMP commissioner to implement this task”, Mr. Bommai said.

Officials must ensure the double vaccination at schools, colleges, nursing colleges and apartments, CM said.

Chief Minister has ruled out the change of winter session place. The Winter session will be held at Belagavi, there is no question of shifting the session venue to Bengaluru. “I have directed the district authorities to strictly implement the covid norms during the session and only double doses vaccinated people and officers are allowed to attend the session”, he added.
