Omicron: State likely to issue new guidelines
Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has taken stock of the situation on the Omicron variant of coronavirus.
After an informal meeting with Covid advisory committee and the special committee to tackle the Omicron variant, the Chief Minister said that he will discuss with Cabinet regarding the imposition of new guidelines in the state.
Chief Minister has instructed the officials to make a proper protocol for cluster management in the state. The state government is not in favour to impose state wide guidelines to manage Omicron variant since it has been found in a few clusters in Bengaluru. There is no need to impose state wide guidelines, the officers suggested. However they have suggested to proper guidelines should be placed for cluster management in Bengaluru to prevent further spreading of the virus.
After examining the Centre guidelines, the state will take a call, the Chief Minister informed the reporters.
Chief Minister has said that people need not panic, but parents, teachers and supporting staff at schools should have a double dose of vaccine and maintain hygiene. Government is likely to issue new guidelines for schools, colleges and hostels in this regard.
