Discontent in Punjab Congress: Amarinder Singh calls CLP meeting
Amritsar: Following a large section of MLAs representation and instruction from the AICC, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh called the CLP meeting here on Saturday.
Punjab Congress in-charge, Harish Rawat, tweeted that the AICC has received representation from many MLAs from the Congress party, requesting to immediately convene a meeting of the Congress Legislative Party. Accordingly, a meeting of the CLP has been convened at 5:00 PM on 18th September.
AICC has instructed the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) to facilitate the meeting. Communication has been sent to all Congress MLAs to attend the meeting, Mr. Rawat tweeted.
Discontent in Pun jab Congress is growing after the party anointed Navjot Singh Sidhu as PPCC President. Mr. Sidhu has openly criticized the Captain for his style of functioning, and he demanded the Chief Minister to set right the power issues in the state.
Mr. Rawat has also tagged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, and Panjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu.
"As per the AICC directive, Congress Legislature Party meeting has been convened at @INCPunjab PPCC Office, Chandigarh on 18 September 2021 (Saturday) 5 PM," said Mr. Sidhu.
Last month, four ministers and around two dozen party legislators openly raised a rebel flag against the Chief Minister and stated that they had no faith in his ability to honour poll promises.
AICC has made its attempt to douse the differences in the state unit, but Chief Minister and PPCC chief at loggerheads. Mr. Sidhu held series of meeting with disgruntled MLAs.
