Over 25 lakh people paid tribute to Appu !
Such a huge crowd has not even gathered for the funeral procession of Varanata Dr. Rajkumar. But people from across the state had paid their last respect to Puneeth Rajkumar, fondly called as 'Appu'. Police had a herculean task to manage such a huge crowd in three days.
Bengaluru: Police department has said that over 25 lakhs people have paid last respect to Sandalwood power star Puneeth Rajkumar in Bengaluru.
Puneeth Rajkumar died on Friday after a massive cardiac arrest, his mortal remains were kept for public homage for three days at Kanteerava Indore stadium. From Friday evening to Sunday early morning, people from all over India paid tribute to the departed actor.
The police department was stunned after seeing a sea of people who thronged to Bengaluru to pay tribute to their most beloved actor.
Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said that police have ensured the most peaceful funeral procedure of 'Appu' and thanked all police personnel for ensuring a tremendous job.
Mr. Jnanendra said that over 25,000 police personal have been deputed to ensure safe and peaceful public homage to the actor.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has thanked police forces and Appu fans for their support to the government ensuring peaceful funeral procedures.

Actor Shivaraj Kumar has thanked the Chief Minister, his colleagues and Karnataka police for their support in conducting last rites and public homage of his younger brother Puneeth Rajkumar.
He recalled the funeral procession of his father, Kannada icon Dr. Rajkumar, where few people had died due to stampede. “My brother's last rites done without any untoward incident, it was happened only because of police and government effort”, Mr. Shuivaraj Kumar said.
He said after performing post-funeral rituals of his brother, his Samadhi will be allowed for the public to pay tribute.
