Pakistan Hockey Olympian banned for ten years for remarks against Imran Khan
Rashid, the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics gold medalist was banned from the sport, it was alleged that he criticized Prime Minister Imran Khan in abusive language for not encouraging sports in the Country.
Islamabad: Pakistani Hockey Olympian Rashid-ul-Hasan was banned for ten years from Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) for his criticism on the decline of the sports in the country.
Rashid, the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics gold medalist was banned from the sport, it was alleged that he criticized Prime Minister Imran Khan in abusive language for not encouraging sports in the Country. However, he has denied the allegation of using offensive language.
He further said that he will challenge the decision of PHF in the court of law. PHF has constituted an enquiry committee to probe the matter of whether a Hockey player has used abusive language against Imran Khan or not, Mr. Khan is PHF patron-in-chief.
PHF President Brig (Retd) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar and Secretary Asif Bajwa, stated that an enquiry committee has been constituted to enquiry into the matter. After Rashid did not respond to two notices issued to him on the matter, the committee on PHF President’s instructions imposed the 10-year ban.
“On a WhatsApp group I only said that on the container though Imran Khan was claiming that he would put the game of hockey on the right track, nothing came on the surface during the last three years. And I also said Imran will not do any good work for hockey,” the Olympian remarked while giving his clarification.
