Pawar meets Modi over creation of ministry of cooperation
New Delhi: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Saturday, raised concern over creation of new Ministry of Cooperation.
Mr. Pawar has discussed with Prime Minister regarding new ministry of coorperation. Creation of new ministry has encroached upon the state power. He briefed the PM that cooperation is the state subject, creation of new ministry is infringe the power of the states, he said.
The meeting was lasted for 50 minutes. Mr. Pawar reportedly told the PM that Centre has very limited power in interfering in state subject by citing Supreme Court judgments, he also stated that any attempt interfering in state subject will be a breach of the Constitution.
Mr. Pawar has criticized the Centre for creating a ministry of cooperation. He said laws for the cooperation sector had been framed in the Maharashtra assembly and that the centre has no right to interfere with legislation drafted by the state. Meeting between two leaders comes two days ahead of the monsoon session of parliament.
