Shershaah will release on August 12

The film based on the life of Captain Vikram Batra, the Param Vir Chakra winner Indian Army officer, Shershaah, will release on August 12 on Amazon Prime. Sidharth Malhotra plays the 24-year-old Army Captain. The teaser of the film was released recently. 

An officer trained in the Indian Military Academy and the Commando Course in Belagavi, Captain Vikram Batra started his career in the Army as a lieutenant in the 13th batallion, Jammu and Kashmir Rifles. He saw action during the Kargil War in 1999 and played an important role in the Capture of Point 5140. During the Capture of Point 4875, he died trying to save the life of an injured soldier. 

His daredevil courage earned him the Param Vir Chakra, the highest war-time military honour of India. The title of the film comes from the intercepted messages of the Pakistan Army in which Batra was referred to as the 'Sher Shah' (Lion King).

In Shershaah, Sidharth Malhotra plays Vikram Batra and also his twin brother Vishal Batra. The film is directed by Vishnuvardhan and produced by Karan Johar under Dharma Productions. Tamil director Vishnuvardhan makes his Hindi directorial debut with this film.
