Pay pending tax in 48 hours: HC tells Dhanush
Chennai: The Madras High Court has ordered actor Dhanush to pay the pending tax on his luxury car within 48 hours. The High Court has also expressed unhappiness that though the Supreme Court decided the case, the matter was kept pending in the High Court.
The Court also refused to allow Dhanush to withdraw the case but rather 'disposed it' with the directions. The actor had also not mentioned his profession in the petition, which was objected to by the Court, which said this amounted to suppressing facts.
The matter related to 2015 when the actor had imported a Rolls Royce car from the UK. The dispute over taxes on the imported car has continued all these years. The Court said that once the car is running on Indian roads, it has to follow the local rules and the taxes as applicable has to be paid.
