PM Modi receives standing ovation as he walks into new Parliament building
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that the new Parliament House is a reflection of the dreams and aspirations of a New India. He was delivering his maiden address in the new Parliament during the second leg of the opening ceremony of the new Parliament building. The second leg of the ceremony began with the National Anthem in Lok Sabha. This was followed by speeches by Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, who also read out messages from President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. Two short films were also screened, and a commemorative Rs 75 coin and a stamp were also released by the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday dedicated the new Parliament building to the nation in a ceremony that also saw him install the historic ‘Sengol’ in the new Parliament House. The Prime Minister said that the new Parliament building fills every Indian with hope and pride. “May this iconic building be a cradle of empowerment, igniting dreams and nurturing them into reality. May it propel our great nation to new heights of progress,” he tweeted. The event also saw the PM and Lok Sabha Spealer Om Prakash Birla attend a puja and havan in the Parliament premises, PM paying floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, the installation of the ‘Sengol’ near the Speaker’s chair in Lok Sabha and a multi-faith prayer meeting attended by the PM and several other dignitaries and religious leaders.
