PM Modi praises Yediyurappa

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a farewell message to former Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa who resigned on July 26.  

The prime minister in his tweet admired Yediyurappa's contribution to the BJP n Karnataka. 

"No words will ever do justice to the monumental contribution of Shri  @BSYBJP Ji towards our Party and for Karnataka's growth. For decades, he toiled hard, travelled across all parts of Karnataka and struck a chord with people. He is admired for his commitment to social welfare".

The 78-year-old Lingayat strong man Yediyurappa had met PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and party chief JP Nadda on July 17. No state minister accompanied Yediyurappa during his trip. However, his son B Y Vijayendra was with him. 

Yediyurappa resigned on July 26, the day he completed two years in office. In a teary and emotional speech, Yediyurappa announced his resignation. Yediyurappa submitted his resignation to Governor Thawarchand Gehlot the same day. 

For over a month, the speculations over the appointment of new chief ministers were doing rounds. Finally, BSY-loyalist Basavaraj Bommai emerged as the winner.
