Priyanka Gandhi hints she could be CM candidate in Uttar Pradesh
"Do you see any other face in the UP Congress party? Then?" Priyanka Gandhi replied on a question about party's CM face in next month's elections.
New Delhi: In a major surprise, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that she could be the party’s chief ministerial candidate for next month’s Uttar Pradesh Assembly election.
After releasing the party manifesto for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that she could be CM face for UP.
When reporters were asked about Congress Chief Ministerial candidate, "Do you see any other face in the UP Congress party? Then?" Priyanka Gandhi replied.
When pressed, Ms Gandhi Vadra, who is leading the Congress' campaign in Uttar Pradesh and is the party's face in all communications, just said: "You can see my face, can't you?", NDTV reports
There is no confirmation, as yet, about Ms Gandhi Vadra's poll debut, but it is important to note that she does not have to contest (and win) an Assembly seat to become Chief Minister.
"If such circumstances arise we would be open to considering that. If such a situation arises, we would want our agenda - for women and youth - to be fulfilled in any such dispensation," she said.
