TTD to Implement AI, Facial Recognition to Enhance Pilgrim Services

TIRUMALA: (Jul 9) The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is set to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) and facial recognition technology to improve and streamline services for devotees visiting the sacred shrine.
The new tech-driven initiative aims to enhance crowd management, reduce wait times, and prevent impersonation or misuse of darshan tokens. TTD officials said these measures will ensure a more seamless, secure, and efficient experience for lakhs of pilgrims who visit Tirumala every day.
The facial recognition system is expected to be integrated with entry points, accommodation services, and token validation to improve transparency and eliminate duplication. TTD is also exploring the use of AI for real-time crowd analysis and predictive planning during peak pilgrimage periods.
The temple board said that while modern technology is being brought in, devotee privacy and data protection will remain top priorities in all implementations.
