Punjab AG hit out at Navjot Singh Sidhu
Mr. Deol slammed the former cricketer, stated that Sidhu trying to derail the earnest effort of the state to ensure justice in drug matters and sacrilege cases.

Chandigarh: Punjab Advocate General APS Deol, who resigned to the post last week hit out at Punjab Congress unit President Navjot Singh Sidhu for demanding his resignation.
Mr. Sidhu has demanded the resignation of AG for representing two accused police personal in 2015 sacrilege and police firing case.
Mr. Deol slammed the former cricketer, stated that Sidhu trying to derail the earnest effort of the state to ensure justice in drug matters and sacrilege cases.
He also accused Mr Sidhu - whose attacks on his own government augur ill ahead of next year's Assembly election - of "spreading misinformation to gain a political advantage over his political colleagues".
"There is a concerted attempt by vested interests to malign the functioning of the Congress party in view of the coming elections in Punjab for their selfish political gain, by politicizing the constitutional office of the Advocate General of Punjab," Mr Deol released a statement on Saturday.
Mr. Deol, a senior advocate of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, he was appointed as Punjab Advocate General soon after Charanjit Channi took oath as CM. He was succeeded by former AG Atul Nanda, who resigned soon after the exit of Amarinder Singh as Punjab Chief Minister.
Mr. Sidhu on Friday said that, "I have taken back my resignation... When a new Advocate General is appointed, I will take charge," he declared, throwing down a fresh ultimatum, his statement sparked controversy.
Interestingly, Punjab CM, Channi has initially not ready to take the resignation of Mr Deol, his move has further annoyed rebel Sidh. Moreover, Channi has told him not to meddle with day to today administration of the government, the appointment of the AG is the discretionary power of the CM and it cannot be ruled by the MLA.
Because of Sidhu’s demand, the party high command has asked Amarinder Singh to resign, but even after party-appointed his nominee as the CM, Mr. Sidhu did not stop attacking his own government. He resigned to the congress President post for appointing ‘tainted’ AG and DGP. But CM has refused to budge his pressure tactics. Even party high command has started ignoring Sidhu's blackmail tactics.
