After a gap of two years, Taraweeh prayers were organised in all mosques in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh where Muslim community members reside in large numbers.
"During this holy month, the Macca Masjid is open for prayers 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 'Taraweeh,' or special prayers led by Moulana Hafez Rizwan Qurashi, will be held at the masjid every day after 9 p.m."
During Ramzan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, Muslims worldwide fast from sunrise to sunset and abstain from worldly pleasures.
Fasting throughout the month of Ramadan is one of Islam's five pillars. Ramzan comes to an end with the Id-ul-Fitr festival.
