Russia intensifies bombardment, Ukraine refuses to give up Mariupol

Lviv: With no relent in the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, the latter has declared that it will not concede the demand of Russia to surrender the port city of Mariupol.
The city which is witnessing heavy shelling is also surrounded by Russian forces that are making every effort to capture it. The residents living in the city are facing a tough time as they have run out of food, water and there is no electricity connection also.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has rejected an ultimatum to surrender the besieged port city of Mariupol to Russian forces.
The Ukraine government has made it clear that there is certainly no chance of Ukraine surrendering weapons. The government has already informed the Russian side of this, said Iryna Vereshchuk, the Deputy PM.

Experts believe that if the Russians take control of the city, it would help Russian forces secure a land corridor to the Crimea peninsula that Moscow annexed from Ukraine in 2014.

The reports said that a senior naval commander in Russia's Black Sea Fleet has been killed in Mariupol, the governor of Sevastopol said on Sunday.
Post-Captain Andrei Paliy, deputy commander of the fleet, died during fighting in Mariupol, Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev said on the messaging app Telegram.
Amid this, American President Joe Biden is scheduled to visit Poland on Friday to discuss international efforts to support Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has been appealing that Russia hold peace talks immediately. He said that dialogues are the only chance for Russia to minimize the damage done with their own mistakes.
