'My Journey has just begun', says new PCC Chief Sidhu
New Delhi: After a week of hectic political developments in Punjab, Navjot Singh Sidhu has been appointed the President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) on Sunday. Sidhu will succeed Sunil Jakhar.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi formally announced the decision of appointment President and four Working Presidents.
"Hon'ble Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi has appointed Shri Navjot Singh Sidhu as the President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee with immediate effect. The party appreciates the contributions of outgoing PCC President, Shri Sunil Jakhar."
Sidhu thanked Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi for appopinting him the party chief in Punjab.
In his tweet Sidhu said, "Today, to work further for the same dream and strengthen the invincible fort of Congress, Punjab. I am grateful to Hon’ble Congress President Sonia Gandhi Ji, Shri Rahul Gandhi Ji & Smt Priyanka Gandhi Ji for bestowing their faith in me and giving me this pivotal responsibility."
On the first day of his leadership, Sidhu assured that he would strive for the victory of the Congress party in the next assembly elections.
Sidhu tweeted, "Will work along every member of Congress family in Punjab to fulfil the mission of #JittegaPunjab as a humble Congress worker to Give Power of the People Back to the People through the #PunjabModel & High Command’s 18 Point Agenda ... My Journey has just begun !!"
