Students bring back their pets to India from Ukraine
The emotional video had gone viral which had promoted animal lovers to urge the Indian government to give special permission to bring the pets to India from Ukraine.
New Delhi: Heartwarming stories are now getting reports of Indian students who were stranded in war-ravaged Ukraine arriving safely to India along with their pets.
Many students who had gone for their higher education from India to Ukraine, had raised pets such as dogs. But after the war broke out, the Indian government issued an advisory to the students and other Indian nationals to leave Ukraine towards other bordering nations.
The students who were worried about their lives were equally worried about the lives of their pets who had raised them so fondly during their stay.
Since they knew that nobody would take care of their pets in a war-torn country, they were anxious to bring them back to India with them.
The students had posted emotional videos on social media appealing to the Indian government to allow them to carry their pets to India as they cannot afford to leave them in a war-ravaged nation.
Initially, the government refused to allow the Indian nationals to bring their pets on the flight, however, after the intervention of animal rights activist and MP Maneka Gandhi who is an animal lover, the government of India finally accorded permission.
Now, several people who have arrived in India via nations such as Poland from Ukraine, are expressing gratitude to the Indian government for allowing them to bring their pets along.
The recent one who has got added in the list of such people is: Ranjeet Reddy who arrived from Ukraine on Monday to India.
The news agency quoted him saying that “ We have to appreciate the efforts of the Indian embassy. They have been very helpful throughout. I got special permission from Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri for my dog. We have brought five pets with us”, he said.
He posted pictures of him with his pet dog. Earlier, another Indian student Rishab Kaushik had posted a video of his pet dog which he had reportedly rescued during his stay in Ukraine and wanted to bring it back to India.
