Also, the Afghan government reiterated that the continuation of the Taliban's bloody attacks in collusion with regional and international terrorists will not only lead to a humanitarian catastrophe and the protraction of war in Afghanistan, but also exacerbate violent extremism and incite terrorists in the region posing a serious and irreparable threat to the collective security of the region and the world.
The Doha peace talks are underway between Afghans and Taliban. According to reports, the Taliban and the Kabul government are far apart in U.S.-backed talks on bringing peace to Afghanistan. The insurgents are demanding "the lion's share of power" in any new government.
The Taliban is advancing rapidly, fuelling fears that the insurgents might re-establish their harsh brand of Islamist rule, including the repression of women and the independent media. After the Joe Biden administration has pulled out the US Armed Forces from Afghanistan, the Taliban has made rapid territorial gains in Afghanistan.
