Karnataka Govt decides to ban online gambling

Bengaluru: The state cabinet has approved a bill that would empower the Karnataka Police to prevent all types of online gambling. The government will amend Karnataka Police Act; the bill will be introduced in the coming session. 

In the amendment bill, profit or gain occurring in two places, and the word otherwise shall be inserted. Gaming includes online games which involve in all forms, tokens, games, betting, money paid before or after, electronic transfer of funds. Online gaming through computers, mobile app, cyberspace, the internet will be banned in the state.

Addressing media persons here on Saturday, Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs minister J.C. Madhuswamy said that government will ban all types of online gambling in the state. However, it has excluded lottery and horse races in the proposed bill. 

Other Cabinet decisions: 

The Cabinet has given its nod to continue the service M/s Boston Consulting Group, investment consultant for one year. The government has hired Boston Consulting Group to rope in investors for the annual remuneration of Rs. 12 crores, the minister said. 

Meanwhile, the Cabinet has decided to drop two Lokayukta cases filed separately in connection to Mysuru Palace. One is awarding the tender of golden-coated paint to the pillars of Mysuru palace and another case was permitting a private photoshoot inside the palace. 

Considering there is no merit in the case, the Cabinet has dropped the same, Mr Madhuswamy said and added that henceforth, photo shooting will be allowed inside the Mysuru Palace without using flash. Controversy erupted after the Mysuru Palace authority permitted a photoshoot of a young couple inside the Palace.
