Shershaah gets favourable reviews

The war film based on the life of Param Vir Chakra winner Vikram Batra, who died while fighting to recover Himalayan peaks in the Kargil War has generally received positive reviews. The film was released directly on the OTT platform Amazon Prime today.

Writer and film industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai gave it a guarded positive review noting that the film "starts slowly and picks up momentum in last 20 minutes terrific climax with plenty of patriotic goosebumps moments."

The film stars Sidharth Malhotra in the lead role while Kiara Advani plays his fiance. Influencer Taran Adarsh gave the film three and a half stars, saying "Director Vishnu Varadhan narrates the story of Shershaah with utmost competency. The Screen writing is absorbing for most parts. The war sequences are executed with a flourish. The finale is sure to leave you moist-eyed."

Shershaah is Tamil director Vishnu Vardhan's first Hindi film. STutee Ghosh writing for The Quint has said, "Simplistic storytelling aside, there is a certain honesty about Shershaah that touches us. It could have been so much more evocative and compelling but still definitely watchable."
