Taliban commander meets Hamid Karzai, Abdullah Abdullah
Kabul: After assuring a strong Islamic and inclusive government in the press conference held in Kabul, Taliban commander and senior leader of the Haqqani Network armed group, Anas Haqqani, has met former Afghan President Hamid Karzai for talks.
In a political overture to 'connect wit all sides', Taliban met Hamid Karzai who was accompanied by Abdullah Abdullah- the old government’s main peace envoy. Abdullah was Chairman of the Supreme National Reconciliation Council.
In the first ever press conference held in Kabul, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said a government would soon be formed but offered few details, only saying the Taliban would "connect with all sides".

Anas Haqqani is the brother of Sirajuddin Haqqani, who is the deputy leader of the Taliban movement. Also, Sirajuddin Haqqani is heading the Haqqani network.
While the Taliban was about to capture Kabul, Hamid Karzai in a video released to the Afghan media, had urged both government forces and the Taliban to protect the people.
Karzai is an Afghan politician who served as President of Afghanistan from 22 December 2001 to 29 September 2014. He is also the leader of the Popalzai Durrani tribe of Kandahar.
