Taliban fighters reach Panjshir entrance

Kabul: Amid political discussions to form a new form of government, the Taliban have besieged Panjshir province, the only non-Taliban province in Afghanistan, on Monday.

Amrullah Saleh, who claims to be the caretaker president of Afghanistan in Ashraf Ghani’s absence, said, “Talibs have massed forces near the entrance of Panjshir a day after they got trapped in ambush zones of neighbouring Andarab valley & hardly went out in one piece.”

In a further update, Saleh said, “Meanwhile Salang highway is closed by the forces of the Resistance. There are terrains to be avoided. See you.”

Ahmad Massoud, the eldest son of Ahmad Shah Massoud, has launched an anti-Taliban front from Panjshir province along with Amrullah Saleh, who was the Vice-President of Afghanistan in the Ashraf Ghani government and now claims to be the caretaker President.
