Trikut Ropeway accident: 40 passengers rescued, 2 lives lost

Deoghar: Joint rescue operation of IAF, ITBP have concluded with the rescue of 46 people stranded in cable cars at Trikut ropeway in Jharkhand. Unfortunately, two people were killed during the operations.
The rescue op was resumed today at Trikut ropeway as passengers were stranded in ropeway for the last 24 hours.
"IAF carried out the rescue of stranded passengers at Trikut ropeway in Deoghar, Jharkhand on April 11 and 12. IAF Mi-17V5 and ALH Mk III helicopters flew 28 sorties and 26 hours. 35 passengers from 10 cable cars were evacuated. The loss of 2 lives during the rescue missions was regretted."

The cable car has been built to take pilgrims to the top of the hill throughout the year, which was otherwise difficult due to the steep climbing angle and lack of a road to the top of the hill.
Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren said, "The rescue operation of stranded passengers at Trikut ropeway has finally ended. Teams of NDRF, ITBP and Air Force were involved in carrying out the op. Our priority was to save lives, two people died in this incident. A fair investigation will be done."
