Two Covid-19 drugs to make pandemic to endemic
Very soon government of India will buy in bulk from pharmaceutical companies and will make available for public use
New Delhi: In a major breakthrough in the research of Covid 19 medicine, the Centre has authorized to use of the Merck drug Molnupiravir an oral antiviral medicine for the treatment of moderate Covid-19 infected patients.
Within a few days, these pills will be given for moderate Covid-19 patients. This medicine will be given to adults who are at risk for progressing to severe Covid-19 or hospitalization. One more pill from Pfizer, Paxlovid also get authorization for usage.
The two drugs, will make a difference and it will from pandemic to endemic, these are the ones which are going to be more important than vaccination, said experts. These two pills can be termed as the final nail in the coffin of the virus. Molnupiravir is already available for usage. Five companies are come forward to produce the same in India.
The cost of two drugs varies from Rs "2000 to 3000 or Rs. 4000 per cycle of treatment, then it will come down to 500 to 600 or 1,000 rupees".
