Ukraine demands comprehensive peace talks with Russia to end war

Kyiv: With no sign of Ukraine war ending soon as Russia continued shelling over the majority of the cities of the country, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has advocated an urgent need for comprehensive peace talks with Russia to find an immediate solution to the war.

Admitting that his country has already suffered a lot, he however also said that Russia too will need generations to recover from the loss that the country will face because of war.

Claiming that his country has always been in favour of peaceful solutions through negotiations, Zelenskiy said that his country still wants peace talks to start between both nations to end the conflict, without any further delay.

Appealing to the world community to hear him, particularly Russia, he said that the time is ripe to join the negotiation table and hold talks.

"The time has come to restore territorial integrity and justice for Ukraine. Otherwise, Russia's losses will be such that it will take you several generations to recover.", he said.

Though both nations have been holding discussions for the last few days on several occasions, no concrete conclusion has been reached so far.

Meanwhile, Zelenskiy accused Russia of putting hurdles on the supplies of humanitarian aid to cities that have been attacked by Russian forces. Calling it a war crime, Zelenskiy said that Russia is doing it intentionally. Ukraine will retaliate strongly, he said.

On the number of casualties, he said that he still has no information about the exact number of deaths due to the attack by Russian forces in Mariupol city. Hundreds of civilians had taken refuge in a theatre. Around 130 people have been rescued so far, he said.
