Mumbai: The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) won their second match in a row on Monday, defeating the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 12 runs at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Half-centuries from skipper KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda enabled the Lucknow Super Giants to reach 169-7 before Avesh Khan's 4-wicket haul helped the LSG bowling attack restrict SRH to 157/9.
SRH won the toss and decided to bowl, and LSG batting first scored a good score of 169 with the help of skipper KL Rahul’s 68, Deepak Hooda’s 53 in just 33 balls, and Ayush Badoni’s quickfire 19 runs.
In their chase, SRH lost early wickets. Their first wicket fell on a score of 25 runs in the form of Kane Williamson, and they lost their second wicket with just 38 runs on board.
Rahul Tripathi ( 44) stitched two small partnerships with Abhishekh Sharma and Aiden Markram, but the Hyderbad side lost wickets at regular intervals and they fell 12 runs short in their chase.
Nicholas Paoran’s 34 and Washington Sundar’s 18 runs did not help SRH much.
Avesh Khan’s brilliant bowling helped LSG register their second win. He picked up four wickets in his four-over spell.
Jason Holder picked up three wickets and Krunal Pandya picked up two wickets.
Quinton de-Cock failed to score for LSG yet again. Skipper Rahul’s batting was the highlight of the LSG innings.
For SRH, experienced bowler Bhuvaneshwar Kumar failed to deliver the ball. T Natarajan, Washington Sundar, and Romario Shepherd picked up two wickets each.
