Bengaluru: Tweet of Vijeta Ananthkumar, daughter of former union minister Ananthkumar, acknowledging JD(S) has a political force in the state has triggered political debate.

In her tweet, she acknowledged JD(S) prominence in state politics. “ Why is Karnataka politics really interesting? JDS is still a very strong political force”, she tweeted. 

Her tweet has raised the eyebrows of many in the BJP and JD(S); JD (S) leaders have taken tweeter handle, expressed their gratitude to her. 

It may be recalled that BJP central leadership denied ticket to Tejaswini Ananthkumar from Bengaluru South Parliamentary constituency in 2019 Lok Sabha polls, which was represented by her late husband Ananthkumar for 6th terms. Party has given a ticket to Tejaswi Surya. Tejaswini Ananthkumar was upset with the party’s decision to deny the ticket though she nurtured the constituency when her husband was representing the same. Subsequently, the party has appointed her as vice president of state BJP. 

Former Chief Minister H.D.Kumaraswamy thanked Vijeta Ananthkumar for acknowledging his party has strong political force in the state. 

Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Mr. Kumaraswamy said, “Ananthkumar and me were good friends. I will express my gratitude to sister Vijeta Ananthkumar for saying good words about JD(S). Her tweet will be a fitting reply for those questioning the existence of JD(S)”. 

Hasana MP and JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna expressed gratitude to Vijeta for her tweet. 

Mr. Revanna tweeted that “When Shri Ananth Kumar Sir was representing, he always stood for our state’s interests. However, today, despite having 25 BJP MPs, we’ve no one raising the voice for the state. We will always be grateful for his contribution for our state”, he said while tanking Vijeta.
