'Cops threatened staff at Saamna': Sanjay Raut accuses police of intimidation tactics
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Sanjay Raut alleged that police threatened the employees of party mouthpiece 'Saamna' in his absence, two days after the Sena leader claimed that there was a threat to his life.
Raut, who had recently written to the Mumbai Police commissioner about the threat to his life, said he had given a detailed statement to the police about his claim that Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's son Shrikant Shinde had hired a contract killer to eliminate him.
Raut claimed the police threatened his staff in the name of investigation and instilled fear in their minds.
"I have given my statement. But when I was not in my office in Saamna, the police scared some of the staff there and threatened to arrest them. Police tried to create a scary scenario in Saamna in my absence in the name of investigation," said Raut.
The MP from Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena faction alleged that the police visited the Saamna office and threatened the employees there when he was touring in Nashik on Wednesday.
Raut even accused the Maharashtra government of lawlessness in the state. He further said that the government has been agitated ever since he informed that there is a threat to his life.
"There is no law and order in the state. The goon is getting police protection. He's a history sheeter. He is seen with the son of the CM. How can this happen? This is a government of 'gundas' after all," said Raut.
On Tuesday, Raut alleged that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's son Shrikant Shinde had hired a contract killer from Thane known as Raja Thakur to eliminate him. He had written to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to look into the matter.
Leaders from the Eknath Shinde faction rubbished Raut's allegations and said Shrikant Shinde would never indulge in any such activities.
On Wednesday, when Raut was touring Nashik, the Thane City Police registered an FIR against him for defamation for his alleged remarks against Shrikant Shinde.
