Annamalai appointed as Tamil Nadu BJP chief post
Chennai: With Tamil Nadu President L. Murugan was inducted into the Narendra Modi cabinet as Union Minister of State, Party leader, the police officer turned politician, K. Annamalai has been appointed as Tamil Nadu BJP unit President.
BJP National President J.P. Nadda has appointed Ex. Police officer, K. Annamalai as Tamil Nadu BJP President with immediate effect, said in a communique issued by BJP National General secretary and headquarter in-charge Arun Singh.
Mr. Annamalai BJP face of Tamil Nadu. Following the party rule of one leader, one post in bjp, Murgan has been relieved from the party President post. The party has chosen Mr. Annamalai as party chief, considering his dynamic leadership and easily connection to youths in the state.
Before appointing Mr. Annamalai as party chief, BJP central leadership has taken feedback from Tamil Nadu in charge and party national general secretary C.T. Ravi.
In Tamil Nadu party is trying hard to make its footprints after aligning with AIADMK in just-concluded Assembly polls.
Earlier in a day several names were doing rounds for the Tamil Nadu BJP President post. Another leader, Nainar Nagendran name also doing rounds for the post, he was appointed as BJP legislature party leader in the Assembly.
Annamalai, a Karnataka –cadre IPS officer, resigned from his post in2019, joined BJP in 2020 with the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Before joining BJP, he launched a foundation to help the students in his native Karur district. He unsuccessfully contested in 2021 Assembly elections from the Aravakurichi Assembly constituency. During his stint as SP in Karnataka, he was popularly called as Singam and his pro-people programs.
