Cabinet Reshuffle: 2 Ministers from Konkan region, a Sena stronghold
Mumbai: Four MPs from Maharashtra were inducted into the new Modi Cabinet in a massive reshuffle exercise. Among four, Narayan Rane Bhagwat Karad, Bharati Pawar are first-term MPs. Kapil Moneshwar Patil, a grassroots party worker, is serving his second term.
With two ministerial to the Konkan region, the BJP has clarified its seriousness to expand in the area. Both Narayan Rane and Kapil Patil are from the Konkan region, a Shiv Sena stronghold.
During the last assembly elections, the BJP was dependent on the influence of the Rane family in Sindhudurg and neighboring areas expand base in the Konkan belt. Narayan Rane is serving as a first-term Rajya Sabha member backed by the BJP.

In 2017, when Rane merged his party with the BJP. But he wasn't inducted into Sena-BJP coalition government due to stiff opposition by the Sena. Finally, BJP accommodated him as Rajya Sabha MP in 2018.
Rane, who is politically active for over three decades, has been a 6-time MLA and MLC for one term in Maharashtra. Also, he was Maharashtra Chief Minister, as well as Cabinet Minister.
Another leader from the Konkan region, Kapil Moreshwar Patil, is an MP for Bhiwandi in Maharashtra, serving his second term. He is a grassroots politician; he has served for three decades across various positions
Bhagwat Karad is a Rajya Sabha MP, and Bharati Pawar is a Lok Sabha MP for Dindori. Both are serving their first term and doctors by profession. Karad runs Dr Karad Multi Specialty Hospital and Research Center in Aurangabad. Bharati Pawar holds an MBBS degree in Surgery from NDMVPS Medical College, Nashik.
