BJP all set to form Govt in Manipur
During the election campaign, BJP stalwart and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the NPP would not be a part of the next BJP-led government.
Imphal: The Bharatiya Janata Party is all set to return to power in Manipur, the saffron party has won 32 seats in the Assembly election. The National People’s Party has won seven seats, Janata Dal (United) won six and the Congress managed to win only four seats.
The BJP fought the election solo, but Congress had stitched alliance with six parties including CPI, CPI(M), Forward Block, Janata Dal (Secular), and Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP).
N Biren Singh, the Chief Minister, won the Heingang seat by around 18,000 votes. The party has opted to leave the National People's Party (NPP), with whom it has had a tumultuous relationship for the previous two years. "I don't think the NPP would support us," Singh told reporters.

Congress party in the last Assembly election held in 2017, had won 28 seats in the 60 members Assembly but the BJP which had secured 21 seats raced ahead of Congress and joined hands with LJP, NPP, and NPF to form the government.
