BJP postponing MCD polls fearing defeat, says Kejriwal
Kejriwal alleged that the BJP Government at the Centre is pressurizing the state election commission to postpone MCD polls.
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the BJP Government is postponing Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls fearing defeat in the urban body elections.
Kejriwal alleged that the BJP Government at the Centre is pressurizing the state election commission to postpone MCD polls.
The way the BJP Government at the centre is pressurizing the state election commission to postpone MCD polls is an affront to martyrs and democracy. They are bringing an amendment to delay it for months. We all know BJP will be wiped out in the MCD elections.
If due to fear of losing minuscule MCD polls, BJP will postpone elections then it'll muzzle people's voices. BJP says they're the world's biggest party but it seems they're afraid of a small party (AAP) based in Delhi, I challenge them to conduct MCD polls on time.
Last week, AAP moved the Supreme Court seeking directions to the State Election Commission to conduct Municipal Elections in Delhi.
AAP has accused the poll panel of not conducting elections at the behest of the Centre. After its repeated requests to the State Election Commission to conduct MCD polls went vain. AAP filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking directions to the Election Commission to conduct MCD polls in a free, fair and expeditious manner, without any interference from the Central government.
