Black Widow to skip theatres in India
After waiting for nearly two years, the Hollywood superhero film Black Widow will skip theatrical release in India and arrive directly on the OTT platform Disney+Hotstar in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
Scarlett Johansson plays the lead role of Black Widow/ Natasha Romanoff in the film directed by Cate Shortland. It was originally planned for a 2020 release which was postponed on more than one occasion due to the pandemic.
It was finally released in theatres in the US on July 9. It was expected that it will have a theatrical release later in the year in India. But on Thursday, the hopes were dashed as Disney Studio announced a direct OTT release in many Asian countries, including India.
Black Widow is part of the Avenger/Marvel Universe, and Scarlett Johansson played the character in films including Iron Man 2 and Captain America: Civil War.
