Bombay HC disposes Sameer Wankhede's petition seeking relief from probe

Bombay High Court on Thursday disposed off Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede's petition after the Maharashtra government's lawyer assured the Court that three days notice will be given before arrest by Mumbai Police.

Mumbai: Bombay High Court on Thursday disposed off Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede's petition after the Maharashtra government's lawyer assured the Court that three days notice will be given before arrest by Mumbai Police.

Sameer Wankhede approached the Bombay High Court over "apprehensions that Mumbai Police may arrest him." The arguments on the matter is being heard by the Division Bench of Bombay HC.

Wankhede has been linked to a Rs 8 crore payoff, and had sought protection from any coercive action during probe initiated by Maharashtra Government’s Special Investigation Team (SIT).

In a major twist in the cruise ship drug case involving Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan, one of the witnesses had alleged collusion and pay-offs against the NCB senior officer Sameer Wankhede and alleged private investigator KP Gosavi.  

Wankhede has reportedly denied any wrongdoing, saying he would give "a fitting reply".

According to NDTV report, in an affidavit filed by Prabhakar Sail, the bodyguard of KP Gosavi, he claimed that he was present in a car and heard KP Gosavi speak to one Sam D'Souza of an Rs 18 crore deal, of which Rs 8 crore was to be paid to Sameer Wankhede.Also, Sail claimed that the same evening, KP Gosavi, Sam D'Souza and Shah Rukh Khan's manager Pooja Dadlani, had a 15-minute meeting inside a car. He also said he had received the cash from KP Gosavi and handed it over to Sam D'Souza.
