Cabinet Reshuffle: Rajkumar Singh, Geography professor, takes charge as MoS in External Affairs
New Delhi: Dr. Rajkumar Singh, a Lok Sabha MP for Inner Manipur in Manipur, took charge as the Minister of State (MoS) in the Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday. Rajkumar Ranjan Singh is one of the 43 MPs who took oath as council of ministers on Wednesday.
After taking charge, Dr. Rajkumar Singh, said, "I'm very happy with the assignment by PM Modi to have responsibility. I belong to Northeast India bordering China, Myanmar and Bangladesh. We've to maintain good relations with neighbors as advised by PM [Narendra Modi]. I'll try my best to serve the purpose."
Before taking plunge into politics, Dr. Rajkumar Singh had a four decade long career as an Geography Professor, retired as as Director of College Development Council in Manipur University. Singh has a MA and PhD in Geography from Gauhati University.

Also, Dr. Rajkumar Singh has published more than 100 popular articles in local dailies. Published 25 Research paper on the problems of land use, forest, environment, rivers & lake, mountains of Manipur, causes of Insurgency in Manipur, Border issues of Indo-Myanmar (Manipur Sector) in the National level;
In 2019, Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh defeated Congress candidate Oinam Nabakishore Singh by 17,755 votes. Of the total 7,59,301 registered votes, the BJP leader secured 2,63,632 votes, against his rival who secured 2,45,877 votes.
