Centre excludes Tamil Nadu, West Bengal tableaux from Republic Day parade, Stalin seeks PM Modi's intervention

Chennai: Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention to include the state's tableaux in the Republic Day parade on January 26.
Stalin wrote to PM Modi over the exclusion of Tamil Nadu's tableaux from the Republic Day parade. He stated that it showcases Subramania Bharathi, VO Chidambaranar, Velu Nachiyar, Maruthu Pandiyar brothers and others.
Replying to Stalin's letter, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said Tamil Nadu's tableaux could make it to the final list of 12 tableaux selected for participation in the Republic Day Parade.
Rajnath Singh said, "Tamil Nadu's tableaux could not make it into the final list of 12 tableaux selected for participation in the Republic Day Parade."
"This is also to bring to your kind info that during the last few years, tableaux from the State govt of Tamil Nadu has been selected for participation in R-Day during 2017, 2019,2020, & 2021," Singh further added in the letter to Tamil Nadu CM.
Also, Rajnath Singh wrote to West Bengal Chief Minister over the exclusion of the state's tableaux for Republic Day celebrations. In a letter, the defence minister wrote, "West Bengal's tableau has been selected for participation in R-Day during 2016, 2017,2019, and 2021."
