Council polls: Kumaraswamy rules out alliance with BJP
Bengaluru: Putt an end to the speculation about an alliance with BJP in Legislative Council polls, JD(S) supremo H.D. Kumaraswamy said that his party will not have an alliance with the saffron party in the elections.
Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, Mr. Kumaraswamy said that “there will be no alliance with BJP. We have here to discuss the 2023 Assembly elections and prepare party programs for the elections. I have given liberty to JD(S) leaders to chalk out party programs for next elections”, he said.
JD(S) has fielded only 7 candidates, but it has decided not to support any party in the remaining places. Earlier, speculation was rife that the party would support BJP.
JD(S) will maintain equal distance from both Congress and BJP. Party will field all 224 Assembly constituencies in the 2023 Assembly elections, Mr. Kumaraswamy added.
“BJP has not sought our support, earlier former Chief Minister B.S.Yediyurappa sought our support where we have not fielded our candidates, but party has not officially sought our support”, Mr. Kumaraswamy clarified.
