Cyclone Jawad: 65 trains cancelled, schools closed for two days in Visakhapatnam

Vizag:  Around 65 ongoing trains were cancelled from the Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh for December 3 and 4, in the wake of Cyclone Jawad.

Also, all schools across the Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam districts will be closed from noon today (Dec 3) and tomorrow (Dec 4 ).

As the cyclone is approaching Odisha, the state government on Thursday evening issued guidelines to prevent its adverse effects. 14 coastal districts have been put on alert and asked to take all necessary steps in view of impending cyclonic storm. 

As many as 266 teams including NDRF, State Fire Services and Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) will be deployed in coastal districts

India Meteorological Department (IMD), forecasted that Depression intensified into a Deep Depression at 0530hrs IST of 3rd Dec 2021, over the west-central and adjoining south Bay of Bengal near Lat. 13.4°N & Long. 86.4°E. To intensify into a Cyclonic Storm during the next 12 hrs and likely to reach the west-central Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh–south Odisha coasts by tomorrow morning.
