Dedicate RRR to the freedom fighters: CM Bommai to Rajamouli

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai requested star director SS Rajamouli to dedicate his movie RRR, which is slated to hit silver screens worldwide on March 25, to freedom fighters.

Attending the glittery gala pre-release event of the mega-budget movie at Alagurki near Chikkaballapur on Saturday evening, the CM requested the movie maker to dedicate the movie to freedom fighters. He gave an explanation of why he was attending the event. He stated that the movie is about two freedom fighters and depicts India’s struggle for freedom. Hence, he attended the event.

He hailed SS Rajamouli. He said that he was proud of the star director as he is the son of this soil. "He is a Kannadiga, he is from our own Raichur. I am proud that a Kannadiga is making a world-class movie and making the industry famous across the world," he said.

Rajamouli is not just a director, he is a creator. "He creates a whole new world on the screen," said Bommai. On the occasion, Bommai also remembered the late Sandalwood actor Puneeth Rajkumar.

Puneeth’s elder brother and cine actor Shivarajkumar also attended the event. He requested Rajamouli to release the Kannada version of the movie in Karnataka more so that more and more Kannada-knowing people could watch it on silver screens.

He said he is a big fan of SS Rajamouli and he recalled the incident of watching Baahubali on screen. "I was spellbound after watching Baahubali and immediately rang him up and I said what a marvelous movie he made," said Shivarajkumar.

He said that he watches movies in theaters, buying tickets on the first day, and requests people to watch movies in theatres only.

NTR junior said he was feeling blessed to be part of this magnum opus movie and thanked SS Rajamouli for giving him a chance to act in the movie. There was loud cheering from the audience when NTR started his speech in Kannada. He said his mother was from Kundapur and knew Kannada well, but couldn’t speak it fluently.

Ram Charan Teja also thanked Rajamouli. He said, "As of now, I have no feeling. I am just enjoying the moment." Ram Charan said he has no words to describe how he is feeling and is just looking forward to the release of the movie.

Director Rajamouli said that actor Ram Charan is like God Hanuman, and his father correctly named him after God, as the actor does not know his acting capacities or his fan following. He described NTR Junior as Ram and knew his capacities and delivered exactly what the director wanted. He also knew his acting capacities.

Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar delivered famous dialogues from NTR and Ram Charan’s movies during his speech.
