We'll 'Walk for Water' despite BJP imposed COVID restrictions, says DK Shivakumar
The government has imposed weekend curfew in the state and closure of schools in Bengaluru Urban district for two weeks from Thursday onwards since the Covid positivity rate crossed 3 per cent and the total covid cases registered 3048 in the state.
Bengaluru: Karnataka Congress president President DK Shivakumar is set to march from Cauvery River to Bengaluru Karnataka Government despite new COVID-19 restrictions in the state. The Congress leader alleged that the ruling party has politicised lockdown for their convenience.
He once again ruled out any possibility of putting off his party’s foot march demanding the implementation of the Mekedatu project even as a third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic seems to have set in. Shivakumar is determined to go ahead with the Mekedatu padayatra, a 10-day march starting January 9.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Shivakumar said "We'll go ahead with the planned march from Mekedatu to Bengaluru. This is BJP curfew, BJP lockdown. I dont call it Covid induced lockdown."
"BJP is increasingly facing political difficulties. People are giving befitting replies to the party," he added.
