ED summons Abhishek Banerjee, his wife
New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee, his wife Rujira Banerjee on September 1, in an alleged money laundering case involving coal smuggling.
Abhishek Banerjee, the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC general secretary, is under ED scanner.
CBI filed an FIR against Abhishek Banerjee based on CBI FIR; ED had initiated a money-laundering probe into alleged theft in the government coalfields, carried out in connivance with public servants in West Bengal.
Days ahead of the assembly polls in the state, the CBI had questioned the Trinamool leader's wife in the same case.
Two senior IPS officers of West Bengal police - Shyam Singh and Gyanwant Singh, were also summoned by the ED in the same case in September.
