Bengaluru: In an early morning shocker to former chief minister BY Vijayendra's aide, the income tax sleuths conducted raids at the premises of Mr Umesh on Thursday.

Umesh worked at the chief minister's office when BS Yediyurappa was the chief minister of the state. Umesh worked as conductur and driver at Puttenahalli depot, Yalahanka. He was PA to Yediyurappa on deputation.

As per the latest report by a private TV channel, Umesh owns a palatial home behind Metro Station in Nagasandra, Bengaluru.

Umesh is in the inner circle of BSY's family for the last 10 years. It is also reported that Umesh stayed in a rented house though he owns a property. Also, income tax officials conducted raids at the premises of people close to Umesh.

The raid is being seen as a 'message' to BY Vijayendra, who is currently vice president of the Karnataka state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Vijayendra was included in the team responsible for Hanagal bypoll following uproar over his non-inclusion in the campaign management for the upcoming bypolls.

Several of his fans associations had expressed strong displeasure that the party’s “election-winning strategist”, who shaped victories in difficult elections like Sira and KR Pet, has not been entrusted with any responsibility either in Hanagal or Sindagi.

Commenting on the raids, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said, "I've got information that I-T raids are happening across many places in the state. I'm yet to get detailed information from the Department. The raids aren't related to our govt. I cannot make any further comments without knowing the exact details".
