International Women’s Day: Bigwigs hail Nari Shakti
On the occasion of International Women's Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver a video-conferenced talk to a seminar at the women's saint's camp in Dhordo, Kutch, on Tuesday.
Bengaluru: As the world marks International Women's Day to recognise women's cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements, many notable personalities took to social media to wish women a happy International Women's Day.
This year, the theme of International Women's Day is "Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow."
The day's goal is to propagate the message of gender equality and develop a better society free of gender bias.
On the occasion of International Women's Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver a video-conferenced talk to a seminar at the women's saint's camp in Dhordo, Kutch, on Tuesday.
The seminar is being organised to recognise the role of women saints in society and their contribution towards women's empowerment. Over 500 women saints will attend the seminar in Dhordo.
The seminar will include sessions on culture, religion, female upliftment, security, social status, and the role of women in Indian culture. The welfare schemes of central and state governments benefiting women, along with the achievements of women, will also be discussed.
The Seminar will also witness the participation of Union Minister Ms Smriti Zubin Irani and Union Ministers of State Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar. The event will be graced by Sadhvi Rithambara, Maha Mandleshwar Kankeshwari Devi, and others.
The prime minister took to Twitter to salute women's power. "On Women’s Day, I salute our Nari Shakti and their accomplishments in diverse fields. The Government of India will keep focusing on women empowerment through its various schemes with an emphasis on dignity as well as opportunity."
He further said "From financial inclusion to social security, quality healthcare to housing, education to entrepreneurship, many efforts have been made to put our Nari Shakti at the forefront of India’s development journey. These efforts will continue with even greater vigour in the coming times."
President Ram Nath Kovind greeted the women community saying, "Greetings on the International Women’s Day! Women are making exemplary contributions in all walks of life. Let us recommit ourselves to ensure their safety and dignity and to provide opportunities to each of them to pursue their dreams and aspirations."
Former AICC chief Rahul Gandhi said, " Women are capable of transforming a society through their wisdom, dedication, and strength. They must get their long pending due."
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, his cabinet colleagues, Dr K Sudhakar and Anand Singh shared their messages with the women's community.
