Journalist Union confers Hermann Mögling award to Shashidhar Bhatt
Bengaluru: Veteran journalist Shashidhar Bhatt has been conferred the Hermann Mögling award for his contribution to print and electronic media in a career spanning over three decades.
Bhatkal MLA Sunil Naik presented the award to Mr Bhatt, currently, Consultative Editor to Balaji Media Group (BMG).
On receiving the award, Mr Bhatt expressed happiness over receiving the award in his home district. Mr, Bhatt said, "I have been in media since Devaraj Urs was chief minister of Karnataka. These days media is in upper castes' clutches".
"How will you build a strong society if media is communalized?" asked Mr Bhatt. He further urged the media houses to hold up pluralism and secularism.
Karnataka Journalist Union District President Manmohan Naik, Chief Guest Mamata Devi, Senior journalists Deepak Shenvi, Tejaswi B Naik, Vasant Devadiga, Subrahmnaya Bhat, Shankar Naik, Arjun Malya were present.
