KGF-2 advance booking surpasses RRR Hindi version
According to trade analysts, the Kannada film has garnered Rs 20 crore in advance bookings in north India alone across all languages.
Bengaluru: As Yash's much-anticipated film KGF-2 is set to hit theatres on April 14, its booking has set a new record. It broke the booking record set by SS Rajamouli's RRR in Hindi.
Four days before the film's release, the Hindi version of KGF-2 sold tickets worth Rs 11 crore. In advance bookings, the Hindi version of RRR has generated little more than Rs 5 crore.
According to trade analysts, the Kannada film has garnered Rs 20 crore in advance bookings in north India alone across all languages.
According to a tweet from Indian Box Office, the film has already sold tickets worth Rs 20 crore across north India, including Rs 11.4 crore for the Hindi version alone. Taran Adarsh, a well-known film business analyst, stated that the film's popularity in Hindi-speaking territories is tremendous.
He stated "KGF 2's 6 a.m. shows and more...#KGF2 advance booking is FANTASTIC. Morning shows in #Mumbai and #Pune will begin as early as 6 a.m. Ticket rates in select locations: 1450 / 1500 per seat in #Mumbai and 1800 / 2000 per seat in #Delhi. #Toofan is on his way," read his tweet.
KGF: Chapter 2 is the sequel to the 2018 blockbuster KGF: Chapter 1. It is directed by Prasanth Neel. The first picture grossed 250 crores worldwide. Given the rising interest in the franchise outside of Karnataka and the lack of major releases, the sequel is projected to comfortably outperform this figure. In this film, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Prakash Raj and Srinidhi Shetty also appear.
Looking at the craze of the movie and considering the booking for the film, Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey, the remake of a Telugu film with the same name postponed to April 22. It was intended to release on April 14.
KGF-2 may face some tough competition down south as the Thalapathy Vijay starrer 'Beast' releases on April 13.
The film is projected to outperform KGF 2 at least in the Tamil and Telugu markets. However, it does not have the same level of visibility in the Hindi belt as KGF 2.
