PM Modi congratulates new Pak PM Shehbaz Sharif

New Delhi: After Shehbaz Sharif became the new Prime Minister of Pakistan, his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi congratulated Sharif for holding the top position in Pakistan.

In his message, Modi has expressed India’s desire for peace and stability prevail in the region. He also hoped that the region get free of terror so that both countries can ensure the well being and prosperity of their people.

In a tweet, the PM said: “Congratulations to H. E. Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on his election as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. India desires peace and stability in a region free of terror, so that we can focus on our development challenges and ensure the well-being and prosperity of our people.”

Following the ouster of Imran Khan from the post of Pakistan Prime Minister, the Opposition's joint candidate Shehbaz Sharif was on Monday elected as the country's 23rd prime minister. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief received 174 votes.

With Pakistan now having new PM, it is now hoped that he Sharif will try to keep  strong control over terrorist outfits that are allegedly are taking shelter in Pakistan and preparing men to launch terrorist activities in India.

Sharif who is brother of Former Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif has  succeeded in throwing Imran Khan out of the PM post and gain power in the Pakistan’s national assembly.
